Day 2 of the 30 Paintings/30 Day Challenge

I found this little park on the way to Ocean City, Md when I was a participating artist at the Ocean City Paint the Town event. I took some quick reference photos and made some quick sketches. I hope to create a larger piece, but for now this little painting is my entry #2.

Day 1 of the 30 Day Challenge

This is my first painting for the 30 Day/30 Paintings challenge. I am hoping to use this experience and practice to learn to simplify my paintings, rather than get bogged down in all the tiny details.
This painting depicts a pathway at the Adkins Arboretum, at the Tuckahoe State Park in Ridgely, Maryland. I was there with my plein air painting group and took a few reference photos to use for this challenge. It was a very hot summer day and I hope I depicted the heat of the day!

30 Day Challenge

I decided to sign up for Leslie Saeta's "30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge" starting September 1st. 

Getting all my supplies ready. I will be doing small oil paintings in sizes of 4x6, 5x7, and 6x6 inches. And I will also be working in small watercolors too.

Painting Ocean City

Had a great time at the Ocean City Plein Air Painting event August 8-10, 2014. My painting of "Assateague Dunes" will be on display at the Ocean City Center for the Arts Gallery until August 31.
The horses at Assateague stopped by for a visit while I was painting! What a thrill!

My paintings have returned home from the Chestertown RiverArts Gallery "Second Look" exhibit. They are now up for sale! The Paint the Town Chestertown event was a great experience and I hope to do it again next year.

Chestertown "Paint the Town" 2014

I had a wonderful time "painting the town" in Chestertown, Md April 24-27.The weather was beautiful and the town was lovely. I'll be posting more paintings from this event...several are still hanging in the RiverArts Gallery in Chestertown.

Winter Plein Air

Painting plein air in the winter is definitely a challenge! One has to try to finish a piece before the light changes dramatically and before one's fingers freeze off. It's been cold here on the East Coast but I still felt the need to get out and paint.
