It's late fall and plants and flowers of the landscape are quickly losing their colors and turning brown. Here's a final tribute to the colors of the fall season.

Paint Annapolis!
I along with other painters from the Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters group braved the heat this past June to participate in Paint Annapolis 2013. I found a quiet shady spot and quickly completed this study.

More Scratchboard Fun
Decided to work on a seasonal scratchboard illustration. Once I finished the original piece, I then scanned it into my computer and added color in Photoshop. I think I'll do some more of these types of illustrations. They are a lot of fun to do!

Sometimes you get wet...
I really was yearning all winter for a snow painting, then one day in March we had a heavy wet snowfall. I dashed out early in the morning to a field nearby and did color sketches and took some photos. While I was there, the weather changed quickly, started to sleet, then rain. Getting soaked, I ran back to my suv and found the wheels rapidly sinking in the mud. After a few tries, my trusty AWD got me out of the mud and back home to dry off and warm up.
And here is the result!

Still waiting for the warm...
The weather is still a bit chilly. The blossoms on my cherry tree are still hiding. Spring come already, I want to get out and paint!
Here is another of my studio studies, I decided to try my luck with using a palette knife. I love the texture and loose feeling it gives to a painting. Hope you agree!

Waiting for the warm...
While working away in my studio waiting for the warm weather to arrive, I did a few small still life paintings. This one was an exercise in handling greens. Green can be such a difficult color!
