A new year coming and a new challenge!

I just signed up for another 30 paintings in 30 days challenge starting Jan 1st. Stay tuned!

A watercolor today.

Playing around with city scenes and watercolors today. The next Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters exhibit will be the urban landscape and I want to get some practice in.
This is called "The Eavesdropper" an 8x8 inch watercolor.
Don't know if I'm done with it yet. Will put it aside and think about it.

Printmaking Again!

I am experimenting with a new printing process called monoprints/monotype prints. This image depicts a scene from the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, located on Maryland's Eastern Shore.

What are monoprints?

Known as the most painterly method among the printmaking techniques, a monoprint is a non editionable kind of print and is essentially a printed painting.
The characteristic of this method is that no two prints are alike. However, images can be similar, but editioning is not possible. The true appeal of the monotype lies in the unique translucency that creates a quality of light very different from a painting on paper or a print, and the beauty of this media is also in its spontaneity and its combination of printmaking, painting and drawing mediums.

Day 21

We had a bit of a cat incident last night. While I was posting the painting of my kitty "My Girl" yesterday, my other cat George decided to get creative. He got into my still wet watercolor palette and got ultramarine blue paint all over the carpets, walls and himself. So I worked into the wee hours of the morning cleaning my carpets, walls and George.
