Day 5

I think I'm getting the hang of doing a painting a day! This my day 5 entry a watercolor called "Assateague Ponies".
I was painting in the Ocean City Paint the Town event and decided to sit on the beach at Assateague Island and paint. Well, these ponies decided to stop by for a visit while I was painting. I took some reference photos and made some quick sketches before they strolled away.

I like this so much that I think I my turn it into a larger oil painting.

Another small watercolor today. This little lighthouse lives just down the road from me at Sandy Point State Park. Nice to have a beach nearby in the summer!

Day 2 of the 30 Paintings/30 Day Challenge

I found this little park on the way to Ocean City, Md when I was a participating artist at the Ocean City Paint the Town event. I took some quick reference photos and made some quick sketches. I hope to create a larger piece, but for now this little painting is my entry #2.

Day 1 of the 30 Day Challenge

This is my first painting for the 30 Day/30 Paintings challenge. I am hoping to use this experience and practice to learn to simplify my paintings, rather than get bogged down in all the tiny details.
This painting depicts a pathway at the Adkins Arboretum, at the Tuckahoe State Park in Ridgely, Maryland. I was there with my plein air painting group and took a few reference photos to use for this challenge. It was a very hot summer day and I hope I depicted the heat of the day!

30 Day Challenge

I decided to sign up for Leslie Saeta's "30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge" starting September 1st. 

Getting all my supplies ready. I will be doing small oil paintings in sizes of 4x6, 5x7, and 6x6 inches. And I will also be working in small watercolors too.

My painting from the Paint Ocean City event, "Assateague Dunes" sold! The event was really enjoyable and I hope to return next year.

Painting Ocean City

Had a great time at the Ocean City Plein Air Painting event August 8-10, 2014. My painting of "Assateague Dunes" will be on display at the Ocean City Center for the Arts Gallery until August 31.
The horses at Assateague stopped by for a visit while I was painting! What a thrill!
